To Break With Care: A Parable of Now

to break with care: A Parable of NOW is an offering, an oracle working in progress. a performance (practice) of communal care amidst uncertainty...it is a meditation in the moment, a stumbling in the darkness and a ceremony of slowness in urgent times.

to break with care is part of a ritual performance project titled, (may there be) Good Atmosphere Between Us: The Parables of NOW to be performed anywhere it is needed over the next four years or for as long as you deem it necessary.

(may there be) Good Atmosphere Between Us: The Parables of NOW (GABU) is a site/land responsive dance and multi-disciplinary ritual performance project that responds to the current global climate crisis through a process of land listening, prayer, land labor, durational movement and Yorubá/Lukumí derived divination practices. Grounded in a collection of community narratives intermingled with African and Indigenous mythologies and sacred texts, this ritual performance experience is guided by the core question, “How do we activate our collective ancient and future wisdom to survive, adapt, and heal from climate catastrophe and political chaos in the Anthropocene?”

This offering is made possible through the generous support of The Zellerbach Family Foundation, the Marin Community Foundation, and the BANDALOOP Resident Artist program.

How We Get Over [THROUGH!]: Movement For This Moment

A guided movement meditation/divination/writing/storytelling practice for collective liberation stewarded by amara tabor-smith

We will move our bodies together; there will be moments of restful pause; we will talk with each other; our ancestors might visit;
there might be laughter, rage, grief, and emotional or spiritual discomfort; there will be breath. It might feel too long, it might feel too short, we will run out of time, it will only be a beginning.

Bring a journal, a pillow and blanket, water, any small objects that are comforting or grounding for you. This workshop is open to all abilities. In order to keep this a safe space for everyone, masks are required. Free (donations accepted)

Note: there will be scented cleansing water present in the space.

No RSVP necessary; just show up!
